Special Education Checklist

For everything that contains to my major, classes, requirements, suggestions, etc., I refer to this checklist and this details everything that I need to have done/do to complete my degree. This also conatins my professional sequence program I am in and the classes I take each semester. The checklist and the SPED courses are listed below to see what was taken each semester.

CI 431 Teaching Elementary Mathematics

In the spring of 2023 each week would be assigned a weekly journal that would pertain to the things either discussed in the class before or would be discussed in the class after. This would have us solve problems using the different strategies we learned and apply the skills we have obtained from discussing the topics.

In the spring of 2023 On most opposite weeks of our Math journals I would do RISE reflections which would connect special education ideas with math concepts and we would be tasked on reflecting and thinking deeper into the information presented to us. This would also be further discussed in class after completion.

In this class we did an author study in which we got to select someone who interested us and had a diverse catalog of books for us to make a compelling article on. I chose Brynne Barnes who I discovered from searching my local libraries catalogue and caught my eye

Another assignment we did was a child observation study in which we had to observe a child in a setting in which they were engaging with a text in some shape or form. I observed a child during a flight I had over spring break and this is m overall observations

At the ending part of class were given a group and topic that related to literature and for my group we were assigned the topic of writing. In this project we all had to do an individual essay researching different information about writing and then a the end we would combine everything we found and make it into a presentation that we would present to the rest of our class.
